Step 5 - Resources & Tools

WaterNow has many additional resources and tools in the Tap into Resilience Toolkit and through other WaterNow initiatives. Check out the selected resources below for more support on your SRF application.

Resources and Tools

WaterNow has developed the below tools and resources to provide more information about the SRF application process and examples and guidance on using SRF funding for environmentally sustainable water infrastructure.

  • Colorado Wildfire Resilience Financing Dashboard
    • Have a wildfire resilience or watershed health project in mind but need funding to move forward? Curious about the multiple benefits of nature-based wildfire resilience strategies? Check out this dashboard to evaluate feasibility of local financing options and learn how to value multiple benefits of wildfire resilience interventions.
  • How to Pay for Turf Replacement in Colorado
    • Read WaterNow’s and Western Resource Advocate’s report Financing the Future: How to Pay for Turf Replacement in Colorado to understand the benefits of turf replacement programs and the funding and financing pathways available to water providers to scale up turf replacement locally.
  • Tap Into Resilience Toolkit
    • Check out our Tap into Resilience (TiR) Toolkit for more resources and information about the State Revolving Fund program and an overview of GASB 62 guidance on using regulated assets to fund localized water infrastructure.
  • National League of Cities Local Infrastructure Hub
    • WaterNow served as subject matter experts for a series of eight modules through the National League of Cities Infrastructure Bootcamp program for the Clean Water SRF and Drinking Water SRF loan programs. Watch the recordings to better understand the SRF program and project eligibility, application tips and tricks, and how to prepare a successful loan application.
  • Finding Best-Fit Funding and Financing for Sustainable Water Projects Webinar
    • WaterNow hosted a webinar for municipal, utility, and community leaders to learn about funding and financing options for sustainable water projects at all scales. The program featured the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s WaterSMART grant program as a way to kick-start water conservation projects, Colorado’s State Revolving Fund program as a key pathway to larger-scale investments in sustainable projects, and the U.S. EPA’s Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act loans as flexible financing for communities’ largest investments in sustainable infrastructure.
  • Region 8 Environmental Finance Center
    • The Region 8 EFC provides finance-related training, technical assistance, finance studies, and other analytical support to help communities in EPA Region 8 states (Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota) develop sustainable solutions to the critical issues associated with meeting environmental standards and goals.
  • Southwest Environmental Finance Center
    • Are you located outside of Colorado and seeking assistance on how to pay for your drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects with federal funds? WaterNow, in collaboration with the Southwest Environmental Finance Center and a team of partners, are supporting communities in EPA Region 6 states (New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana) to access SRF and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funding. Check out our webpage to learn more.
